Coffee and Conversation with the Clergy - June 17

Coffee and Conversation with the Clergy in the Neal Library is an open ended opportunity for members and friends of Grace Lutheran Church to meet and talk with the pastors in an informal non-structured setting.  Topics of conversation will be determined by the participants.  Coffee and Conversation will continue on the third Sunday of each month.


Attention Cancer Survivors! - June 22

Attention Cancer Survivors! We would like to honor you and a care taker (family member, friend, doctor, nurse, etc) with a free dinner at the Relay for Life event on Friday, June 22nd at Trinity HS beginning at 5:30 PM, followed by a survivor lap around the track. Call Terry Scott (770-0599) for More Info. Team "Amazing Grace" will be there to cheer for you as you take your special lap! Everyone is invited to the luminary ceremony beginning around 8:30 PM that evening. This is a moving ceremony honoring survivors and the memory of loved ones lost to this disease.


Great Bible Reef VBS - June 25-29

Great Bible Reef VBS - June 25-29, 2007! This year's Vacation Bible School theme uses the coral reef to help children learn great stories about Jesus, make cool crafts, sing fun songs, play zany games and explore the Bible stories through science-oriented activities. Children with one year of preschool experience up to 6th Grade are invited to join us for this exciting morning program. (Kids who have completed 6th grade and up are encouraged to volunteer.) Registration forms are located on the Parish Education bulletin board (near the elevators) or in the Church office. Please consider volunteering for VBS to make the program a huge success and promote our evangelical outreach to the community. VBS Donations Needed

Donations of Juice or punch are needed for Vacation Bible School.  If VBS is not held this year whatever has been donated will be given to the food pantry.


Alive! Alive! - September 21 - 23 - Early Bird Registration June 24

For 6th - 8th graders.  Come join over 300 youth from our synod for a weekend at Camp Nawakwa.  The event will include a dance, a campfire, worship, and lots of fun.  This year's theme is Live Love.  Please sign up on the youth bulletin board if you plan to attend.  Get your registration in by June 24th, and we get a discount.  Deadline to register is August 18th.  This event is for all youth going into 6th through 8th grades.


Road Clean-Up Day - Saturday, June 30

West Shore Conference Youth Kickoff Event at Kentland - August 26

We will be gathering at Kentland for an afternoon (3:00 - 6:00 PM) of games, food, service, and worship. Youth from the congregations in our conference will be joining us, so it is sure to be a good time. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you plan to attend. Disaster Preparedness Committee

The disaster Preparedness Committee is in the process developing a method of contacting church members who may need help in case of emergency.  Some members will be called and asked about being contacted, and they will be asked about their own preparedness.  The committee feels that it is vital that any person who might need help be contacted in case of disaster.

 


New Sound Equipment

Help Needed

Help Needed - We are in need of more people to serve as Night Security & Van Drivers. If you are willing to serve in one or both of these capacities, please call the church office - 737-0439. You would have to serve approximately once every 8 weeks


Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee is seeking one or two individuals with human resources/employment experience to serve with us.  This is an interesting volunteer position on a committee that provides an invaluable service to the church.  It only involves 2-3 hours per month on the average and the term is two years. Quilters
 

The Quilters would gladly accept donations of mattress pads and blankets to be used as filler for the quilts they make each Tuesday.

 


Food Pantry
 

The Food Pantry needs food throughout the summer months!  Requested items include powdered milk, jello mix, and pudding Mix.  If donating egg cartons, please only the cardboard type, not the stryrofoam.


Help WELCA Help Needy Children
 

 

WELCA is gathering school supplies for Needy Children: They have enough school supplies for 15 kits.  They are now requesting cash donations to help defray mailing costs.


Bountiful Blessings

Bountiful Blessings is participating in a program with Turkey Hill Mini Markets.  Turkey Hill will donate 5 cents to Bountiful Blessings for every milk bottle cap we collect with a Moo Money Cow on it.  If you drink Turkey Hill products, please save us the lids. 

If you would like to really help us out, you can be the "go to" person who collects the milk caps at your place of work or at your church.

Weis and Giant Food Cards
 

Weis and Giant Food cards are on sale in the office during the week and will be sold between the services (during SS hour) in the hallway by the Youth bulletin board each and every Sunday until the July Youth Gathering trip to Texas. 

 

The response has been wonderful.

 

Just for your information, we will depart from BWI for a substantial savings!

 


Support Our Troops
 

 

Help support our troops!.  Starting now through the end of October there will be boxes in the library and in Barkley Chapel, in which we will be collecting items to be sent overseas to the troops.  Packaged non-perishable items are always good, but if you are in need of more ideas, check out the boxes!  Help bring a little cheer to the soldiers while they are away from their loved ones!  We can make a difference.


Attention Knitters


Attention Knitters!  Kids will soon be needing warm caps.  Look in the hallway for a basket of yarn, donations and some knitting needles.  Help yourself and knit some hats for the cool kids.  There are new hat and mitten patterns available in the knitters box near the food pantry box.  Please leave the finished hats in the office. 


Memorial Fund Policy and Procedures
 

Recently, Congregation Council approved changes to the Memorial Fund policy and Procedures as recommended by the Administration Board.  The revisions maintain the tradition of contacting families of deceased members to obtain input on the use of memorial donations, while not introducing a time-consuming, cumbersome process.  For more information visit the Grace Website at http://graceluthchurch.org, contact a member of the administration board, or ask the church office for a copy of the complete policy document


The Van is Available
 

Do you someone who would like to come to church but needs a ride?  Would you come to church if you had a ride?  Well, the van picks up people every week and would love to bring you too!  Call the office (737-0439) by 9:00 AM on Friday to arrange to be picked up.  Come on along!   

 


Nursery Helpers Needed
 

We are in need of volunteers for the church nursery during either the 8:30 or 11:00 AM services during the school year or the 10:00 AM service during the summer.  If you'd like to help, call Connie Angus at (717) 774-7354.

Attention Seniors

Attention Seniors (50 and older) - The New Cumberland Golden Age Club is looking for members.  They meet the second Tuesday of each month at Trinity United Methodist Church in New Cumberland.  The meetings begin at 1:00 PM.  Activities include programs and bus trips.  Come and enjoy the fellowship and social entertainment.  For information call 763-9580 or 761-0265


Food Pantry

With the help of Grace Church, the Ecumenical Food Pantry has been able to provide assistance to 600+ families each month in 2004. The greatest need is to replenish the aging volunteer force. Food Pantry hours are 9:30-Noon and 12:30-2:00, Monday through Friday. Call Ann Young at 657-9789 if you’re interested in helping.


Security Update
 

As a security measure, the parking lot door is locked during the week.  Please feel free to enter through the office.

 


Quilters
 

Fabric and filler for quilts is always needed.  If you'd like to donate fabric, take it to the Quilters room beside the kitchen.  If you'd like to make a monetary contribution, mark it " Quilters" and send it to the office or drop it in the plate.
