We thank all the youth who participated in the December Nut Fry to make it run smoothly. Thanks as well to the youth who facilitated the Coffee Hour on December 3rd. We also had a small but helpful group of youth who spread the holiday cheer at the Group Home Christmas Party. In addition, we had a great Christmas Family Night in part because of the youth who did such a fine job in the play and who helped with the meal. And, let me thank in advance (since the Christmas Eve services have yet to happen as I write this), all who will help with worship on Christmas Eve. I want to thank in particular those who agreed to help with the Living Crèche. Our younger children enjoyed some special events in December. In particular, many children with their families gathered for the midweek Advent dinners. We had a really enjoyable time. Thanks to everyone who helped make those evenings possible. And, children’s church continues to be a fun and lively worship experience for our younger members. We had a great turn out this past time. Upcoming in January… January 5th-7th—Winterfest This weekend eight senior high youth and two adult advisors from our church will be gathering with 800 other youth and advisors from within our synod for a kicking weekend. Keep the youth and advisors in your prayers. January 8th—Council, 7:00 pm Confirmands are invited to attend for a learning credit toward their confirmation requirements. Please let Pastor Joel know if you plan to attend. January 14th—Snow Tubing at Ski Roundtop Please join us for a fun-filled evening in the snow. Bring your friends. Information and sign up is on the youth bulletin board. January 21st—Youth Sunday, 11:00 am worship Join us for a special worship service this morning. January 21st and 28th—The Smart Choice Program This is such an informative program about waiting to be sexually active until marriage that you won’t want to miss it. Parents will meet on January 21st; the youth on January 28th. Information and sign up is on the youth bulletin board. January 22nd—Board and Committee Night Confirmands are invited to attend for a learning credit toward their confirmation requirements. Please let Pastor Joel know if you plan to attend. Mark these dates in February… February 4th—Souper Bowl Sunday February 16th—Spaghetti Dinner Tentative Date in February--Volleyball Event February 18—Lenten Family Dinners begin Did you know??? The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was named by his parents after his father, of course. But his father was named after Martin Luther. This is why we sometimes confuse the Reformer and the Civil Rights activist. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is observed on January 15th.
